Yoli–the first frozen yogurt shop in Berlin. A job well done to the owners and the Berlin-based design collective, Amseldrossel.

J.D. Salinger passed away today. His stories may have been the first that I have wanted to read multiple times either immediately after I turned the last page or sometimes a few weeks later. I love the characters he creates–they always seem to be people I would like to meet and spend time with.

For more on his life and career see NYTimes article posted today.

Cristiana Couceiro is a freelance illustrator, working and living in Lisbon, Portugal. She started making collages when she was a child, and apparently hasn’t been able to stop since then. I was happy to see that this lady has been appreciated by clients such as the New York Times for doing something she loves so much. (Images via her website).

Neue Helvetica Arabic

Nadine Chahine is a Lebanese type designer and creator of Palatino Arabic, Frutiger Arabic, and just recently, Neue Helvetica Arabic. I saw her work on I Love Typography’s Blog and was amazed by her knowledge of Arabic script and her ability to translate Helvetica’s “neutrality” typographically.

See examples of her work below.

I’m not sure if there is something this woman cannot do.  A talented typographer, illustrator, and designer, she has a way of delivering intelligence and sophisticated style in each project she creates.  To see more of her work, visit her site.  Her capital letters can be purchased here in large printed format and make a fun and personalized gift!
